Orion, Taurus and Pleiades Cluster

Orion and its neighboring constellations, happens to be one that is dense with nebulae and young stars.

Betelgeuse (top) and Rigel two brightest stars in the constellation of Orion. Betelgeuse is a red supergaint which is about 500 light years away whereas Regel is a blue white supergaint located approximately 775 light years away.

Extend the line of Orion’s belt to the right toward a “V” of stars, the face of Taurus, the Bull. this region is dominated by the reddish star Aldebaran (center). The head of Taurus is a star cluster called the Hyades located at 150 light years from us, Alebaran is not a member of this cluster!

Pleiades (bottom left) “Seven Sisters” is located at 3 times the distance of Hyades. Brightest star in this cluster is Alcyone.
