Double cluster region of Cassiopeia

The border between the constellations Perseus und Cassipeia is a beautiful Autumn Milky Way area full of multi-colored stars and red emission nebulae. The two “double objects” dominate this region: The Double Cluster NGC 884 and NGC 869, these objects are located “nearby” in the Perseus arm of our galaxy.

Although extremely large, the Double Nebulae are very faint, for a good visual observation you will need a rich-field telescope. The Double Cluster however is a showpiece object that can even be seen with the unaided eye.
