How To !

Astronomy Digital Picture of the Day (ADPD) blog is created to display my astrophotographs captured using digital camera.

Purpose is to
1. Encourage people use normal digital camera for astrophotography.
2. Capture special moments of night sky.
3. Share Astronomy and astrophotography information.

All you need is a DIGITAL CAMERA and a TRIPOD.

How to !

1. Place the camera on the tripod.
2. Set the max. ISO available on your camera. *
3. Set the widest aperture possible (by selecting the 1/f, where ‘f’ is the lowest number available.) *
4. Set the Timer ON.
5. Aim at the region of the sky you want to photograph.
6. Switch OFF flash.
7. Click ( timer count down begins !)
8. Stars captured on your camera !!! **

Repeat to capture more images !

you can use optical zoom in your camera too. Most of the times its gonna be a blind shoot at the sky, but over a period of time you will get better in capturing the right star !

* one might not be able to set 2 and 3, if its not possible then give preference to ISO !
** If the exposer time is more Stars may show a trail.

Note – Brighter objects like moon, jupiter, venus.. so on may not require longer exposer time.
